Dining
Chef/partner Marco Canora and sommelier/partner Paul Grieco, owners of Hearth in the East Village, bring their casually elegant style to midtown with the opening of Insieme. The Italian word for together, Insieme features two menus, side-by-side, both Italian. The traditional menu will offer classic Italian dishes and techniques deeply-rooted in history and Marcos family recipes, such as Suppa di Sparagi in Sapor Giallo /Asparagus Soup with Saffron, Pinenuts, Pistachio/ and Tacconi ai Corniglio /Square Pasta Sheets with Rabbit Ragu/. The contemporary menu presents a modern take on Italian cuisine, with dishes such as Black Olive Tagliatelle with Duck Bolognese and Australian Beef en Brodo with Taleggio Raviolini. Paul Griecos wine list matches the spirit of the menus, with bottles from emerging winemakers and classic vinters equally showcased. The 75-seat restaurant, designed by award-winning architects Bentel and Bentel,is warm and intimate, featuring natural materials such as weathered white oak, cork and travertine. A 30-seat private dining room downstairs is fashioned to resemble a wine barrel, with cork walls and lush burgundy carpeting. Insieme is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Decor A spare, warm dining room enriched by a palette of naturally beautiful materials such as weathered white oak, honed silver travertine, raw silk thread drapery and burnished statuary bronze. The quiet strength of each ingredient in the palette evokes an ancient Italian past with an unabashedly modern vocabulary.
